ATIQAH HASIHOLAN
This girl started her professional film career in 2006 through movie Berbagi Suami (Love for Share). She was the one who played one of Pak Haji's (El Manik) young wives. Not many know that Tika (her nickname) started her career from theater. She had joined theater since she was an elementary school student. Afterward, her performance that stole the attention was in a horror-flick by Viva Westi, Suster N (2007). Here's the first time we have to appreciate Tika's acting via GeA (Guardians e-Awards) as one of the Leading Actress nominees. A year later she became a karaoke girl in Cinta Setaman (2008). This year she entered again the same box with Jamila dan Sang Presiden (J&SP). Unfortunately she lost once again, this year Ayu Laksmi's work in Under the Tree has been chosen by the voters more. However, Tika has successfully played a supporting role as good as main role in one year. This is what makes MG (Mellyana's Guardians) appreciate her performances and we finally decided she is the Star of the Year.
During 2009, Tika has played in three quality films. They were: Pintu Terlarang (PT), J&SP and Ruma Maida (RM). In PT, she played Claudia - a supporting role- Herosase receptionist. In MG's movie review of PT, we praised Tika has a better chance to play Talyda (played by Marsha Timothy). After that she appeared in J&SP as the leading role, a movie tells about human trafficking, directed by her own mother, Ratna Sarumpaet. Here, her acting talent looked more natural and she didn't hesitate to appear without makeup on her face. But her best performance of the year is in RM of course. As an idealistic young woman named Maida - again in the leading role- who fight for education. In this beautiful film directed by Teddy Soeriaatmadja, Tika was able to connect viewers to the era where nationalism to strive for. Through this role she's been nominated as the Best Actress in Festival Film Indonesia (FFI) for the first time.
No one denied when calling her pretty and talented. Of course we could not agree more. In addition, she used to pursue modeling. But she became very attractive because of the way she set her career is different from other young artists. She has a special uniqueness. Tika doesn't sell gossips and physical beauty to be noticed by people. She's not an instant star nor chasing popularity. Her arrival has given a different shade for Indonesian showbiz. She can be a role model for every newcomer, that to be successful do not follow trend. Everybody should have an idealism and don't be a commodity. That's what we see from Atiqah Hasiholan, our STAR OF THE YEAR.
